Golden Gravel 20mm
Mayo Stone Sand & Gravel 20mm Golden Gravel is one of the most loved decorative aggregates in Manchester and is so for a variety of good reasons. The Golden Gravel is an economical, versatile stone that you can use to decorate your driveway, a walkway in your garden or even to create an eye-catching border around your home or commercial property.
Our Golden Gravel derives from warm browns, golds and creams that will easily brighten up any area of your garden, whether it’s a classic brick house or something more contemporary with black and white colouring, the golden gravel adapts well to both settings when both wet and dry!
A unique feature that makes the Golden Gravel extra special is the fact that on some occasions seashells can be found within the stones! This happens because they are quarried at the beach sustainably here in the UK.
We also have Golden Gravel available in 10mm.
A common way to utilise the 20mm Golden Gravel is to create an eye-catching and bright pathway either around your property or through your back garden.
Our 20mm Golden Gravel is the perfect size for a driveway, creating a safe and level ground for cars to drive on. We think it’s best to either use the 20mm.
If you are looking to decorate your driveway or garden but don’t want to spend too much money on it, then the Golden Gravel is perfect because it is much more budget-friendly, especially when compared to block paving or tarmac. The benefits don’t end there: Golden Gravel also helps out with drainage so you don’t have to worry when it rains as any standing water will not cause an issue and neither will flooding, allowing water to free drain.
One of the many benefits of the Golden Gravel is the fact that they’re low maintenance. If you do not want to spend time and effort maintaining your gravel then the Golden Gravel is perfect because you don’t need to do anything to them apart from topping them from time to time to ensure that it is deep enough to safely drive and walk on.
If you want to create an attention-grabbing feature for your garden without it being over the top then the Golden Gravel is the way to go. It is a simple yet effective way to add some depth to the area.
As the Golden Gravel is comprised of a range of brown-yellow tones, it will instantly add some warmth and brightness to your garden. They also make an effective border when placed around the edges.
If you are a fan of plants, then you need not worry about using the Golden Gravel as it will not damage your plants at all. A popular design idea would be to spread some of the Gravel over the plants and beds to add a pop of colour in all seasons.
Finally, a further benefit of using Golden Gravel is that they are excellent at storing moisture which will come in handy in keeping your plants cool during the summer season and equally will keep them warm during the winter.

We always recommend that you hire a professional landscaper for jobs like these as it will reduce any risks of error. If you are installing the Golden Gravel for your driveway, you need to first make sure that you have a stable base. To do so, we suggest using MOT Type 1 sub base, we recommend our Limestone MOT Type 1 or Recycled MOT Type 1 . This is graded 40mm to dust and we think it’s perfect for compacting, making the driveway area level.
Before starting the work, your first step is to measure out the area you’re going to be putting the Golden Gravel on. Once you have decided on the area, call us and we’ll help advise on the quantity required. As a basic rule of thumb, we always suggest that the base should be 50mm.
At Mayo Stone Supplies, we recommend you purchase some Grid Stabilisers, which have been specifically developed to cover large areas that get a lot of foot and vehicular traffic. They are also appropriate for long drives or on private roads.
As a general rule, we think it’s the best practice to also lay down a layer of weed membrane also. This is to reduce the risk of unwanted weeds to start popping out through the fabric. We supply the weed membrane in a range of sizes so you have several options depending on how big or small your garden is.
If you want to use the Golden Gravel for garden borders, you can install them straight onto the existing surface.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to our Decorative Stones being a naturally-sourced product, there will always be some variation from batch to batch, especially in terms of colour. On occasion, your garden stones may be very dusty; we recommend hosing your new stones down to wash them and reveal their true colour.
