6F5 Capping Consists of:
6F5 is an aggregate usually composed of crushed limestone or grit stone (sandstone) particularly around the North West region. Sizes range from 100mm down to dust. The term 6F5 Capping is generally used to describe a product that is similar in size and grading to recycled 6F2 Crusher Run but made from quarried stone instead. 6F5 Capping is mainly used a sub-base for roads and buildings although it has many other uses such as Piling Mats and general backfill. The coarse nature of 6F5 makes it a very good all in one product which when compacted forms a hard wearing surface. 6F5 Capping is ideal as an initial layer of hardcore before being finished off with a layer of type 1 sized material, such as limestone mot type 1.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is 6F5 Capping?
6F5 Capping is a product made from crushed Granite, Basalt, Gritstone or Limestone (depending on source). The size range is approximately 100mm down to dust. The colour of 6F5 aggregate can change frequently depending on its quarry source.
What Can 6F5 Capping Be Used For?
6F5 Capping is suitable for hard-standings, haul roads, piling mats and bulk fill.
Is 6F5 Capping Suitable For A Driveway Sub-Base?
6F5 Capping should not be used as a driveway sub base. Please use either a type 1 or type 3 aggregate for driveway sub bases. We have both recycled mot type 1 and limestone mot type 1 available with delivery.
How Do I Calculate The Quantity Of 6F5 Capping I Require?
6F5 Capping should be laid at 150-200mm depth when used as a sub base for haul roads and hard-standings. Heavier loadings will require a deeper sub-base and may need to be calculated by a structural engineer. Typically, one tonne will cover 5m2 at 100mm depth.
How Do I Install 6F5 Capping?
6F5 Capping should be spread with and excavator and compacted with a vibrating roller in layers. It is important the product is properly compacted to prevent settling later on. The depth of installation will depend on the project but we generally recommend 150-200mm for haul roads and hard-standings.
Is 6F5 Capping Free Draining?
6F5 Capping does allow the passage of water, albeit at a slower rate than other products such as our eco washed recycled 40/80mm drainage aggregate.
